Three Dangerous Myths Of Weight Loss

Advice about weight loss is a popular topic in most health magazines. While a few of these tips are effective, many others can actually be harmful. The ineffective weight loss techniques usually involve fad dieting, pills, and weight loss supplements. A valid tip for everyone to follow is to eat sensibly and exercise.

The weight loss industry often offers misleading information or just plain myths, and other people will tweak the truths because they are ignorant or it’s to their advantage to do so. I would like to talk about three of these myths.

Myth#1: It’s possible to achieve spot reduction of fat: I’m fairly sure most weight loss experts would agree to this one as not being true. Where fat diminishes is not within your control, regardless of what kind of target exercises you do. If you try to reduce your excess belly fat by doing frequent leg lifts and crunches, you’ll start to see your abdomen’s muscle mass reduce far faster than your actual belly fat will. Therefore, it is recommended that you maintain a well-balances diet designed to raise your metabolism and burn fat quicker!

Myth#2: Dramatically reducing your daily calorie intake will diminish your body fat: False. Many people have found themselves on the edge of crash dieting by subscribing to this myth. Out of desperation, a person crash dieting to shed excess weight, eventually finds that they are damaging their bodies instead. Know that starving and fasting tends to make your body think you’re trying to kill it and therefore it goes immediately into a starvation mode to save itself. In this mode, your body responds to the perceived threat by slowing your metabolism and burning your muscles to produce energy, avoiding using the unwanted fat that your body keeps in reserve. In this way, excess fat will not be shed – only your important muscles. You will gain back extra weight when you start back to a normal diet.

Myth #3 : You can lose weight by doing cardio exercises alone. Cardio exercises are definitely an excellent way to fast weight loss, but it’s false that only cardio is capable of shedding extra weight. Aerobics are also excellent for this. In actuality, aerobics and cardio will both help you shed equal amounts of fat. For another healthy alternative, try weightlifting. You get the fat burning benefits of aerobics and cardio, with the added bonus of continued fat burning even after your workout has ended! The most efficient choice for permanent fat loss is combining weight lifting and cardio exercise.

Hopefully, this article has helped you discover the reality about weight loss!
