Most people who have excess fat believe that the answer to having ripped abs is to do abdominal workouts which they believe is going to burn the fat off their abs.

The thing is… they are going about the problem entirely the wrong way! The truth is that you don’t lose stomach fat by doing ab workouts. This is not how to get flat abs.

Allowing all of your exercise time to go to abs exercises is not going to get you to your goals of flat abs any soon.  This workout plan is not the correct way to go about it. These are a few better alternatives to regular abs exercises:If I were to choose an answer as to what the best exercises are for losing belly fat, my answer would include full body exercises such as the following: various forms of squats, lunges, and deadlifts.

If you were to create a workout schedule, one that produces the best results in the least amount of time, these are the kinds of exercises you would be planning around. Making a workout plan around these exercises is a great way to maximize your metabolism which we all know is very important in the burning of fat, much especially belly fat.

Now, this is not to say that you should no longer do any abs exercises at all. Rather this is a reminder to be sure to focus more on full body workouts as your time spent doing these is going to give you faster and more efficient results. In addition, a side-effect of working out using mostly full body multi-joint combo exercises are that you indirectly work your entire midsection even though you are not specifically targeting the abs.

Keep in mind that the most important factor for losing belly fat to see your abs is actually in the nutrition arena. In addition to a well thought out workout plan, you’ll need a well thought out diet.   You have to have a well balanced diet in tune with a well thought out workout plan to get the results you want.  They go hand in hand together.

So for once and for all…  Stop exerting so much of your time focusing on crunches and all those silly worthless “ab contraptions” in your efforts to try to develop pack abs. Put your efforts into something more efficient such as a high intensity full body workout that is highly effective in losing that belly fat. The problem is that focusing most of your time and effort on abdominal exercises and abs workouts to try to flatten your stomach and bring out 6-pack abs is simply wasting your time from doing the correct workout programs that will actually reduce your body fat for good. The following are some fully body exercises that would benefit you much more greatly than if you were to do just abs exercises: presses and pulls, mountain climbers, sprinting.

These are the kinds of exercises that you should be doing if you want to lose that belly fat. These exercises done together in the correct fashion is going to maximize your metabolism which is very important in burning off fat.

By all means, continue doing some abs exercises.  It is not like you are totally wasting your time, the point is to remember to do full body workouts as your primary focus. When you do a full body multi-joint combo exercise workout you are in fact working out your midsection although these exercises aren’t targeted to do so.

One thing we haven’t brushed on yet is the importance of a well balanced diet and healthy nutrition. If your diet is full of junk food and fried foods, no matter how much you work out you are not going to shed that excess belly fat.
