Healthy Diet Program: How To Burn Fat For Good

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Ready for a a healthy diet program instead of one of the hundreds of fad diets?

If you want to know how to identify a healthy diet program, Make sure that they recognize exercise as a vital component to their program.  Any diet program that claims long term benefits without considering physical activity is probably misleading.   A healthy diet program is also going to have a great balance of foods from fruit, vegetable, and lean free range meat.

Most diets that work for the long term, teach you what foods to choose from each category. There are great lists of fat burning foods available that can give you exactly which foods to eat and which to avoid. The foods on these lists always include a large amount of raw fruits and vegetables. Some examples you should watch for are broccoli, carrots, spinach, salad greens, grapefruits, bananas, and a healthy mix of other raw vegetables and fruits.

Even though some of the diets that include prepackaged meals can help you lose weight, I don’t believe they are as effective in teaching you habits that you can use for a life time of staying lean and trim. You need to learn what you need to eat for the rest of your life to stay healthy.

Choose a healthy diet program that makes simple changes in your lifestyle. This is how you get lasting results. Obesity starts with your mindset.  I know if I start gaining weight, it is because I’ve started using food as either a reward, as a comfort food, or many times out of boredom.

By combining the mental aspects of dieting, along with proper food choices, and exercise, you can have a healthy diet program that transforms your life.

Learn How A Detox Diet Can Destroy Your Food Cravings

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Is there any food that you just can’t resist no matter what?
I will now go over a life-changing technique, called Shock and Awe, that  has given thousands of people on a detox diet 100% better results.

Shock and Awe

When you next have a craving for that Dove chocolate bar with almonds, I want you to go ahead and grab your food, walk into your bedroom or bathroom, strip yourself completely naked, and eat the bar in front of the mirror.
I then want you to stare at the part of your body that you are most unhappy with and realize that your favorite chocolate bar- the one that you are devouring right now is going straight to that area and causing it to look even more disgusting.
Think about these things:
Does the extra 45 min workout that I have to deal with worth the 400 calories that I just ate in three minutes?
Is it worth the extra time and embarrassment that I will feel about my body? These are the things that a detox diet will address to help you get rid of belly fat.

The reason that this works so well is that we are using a principle known as anchoring.
Studies have proven that you can relate feelings of anguish or joy with almost anything.
This simply implies that you are in charge of your emotions.
Repetition is a big key to making this work.
For Example: If you are a chocoholic, who is trying to lose weight, start doing the Shock and Awe technique every time you crave chocolate.
You will subconsciously create a negative anchor in your brain to chocolate or ice cream or whatever else that you are craving at that time.
You will actually build neural pathways to associate your food craving with how fat you look in the mirror in the same way you would build a pathway to become addicted to smoking.
This is a very effective means to control and cut back those bad food cravings.

Shock And Awe, and other mental techniques play a very important role in any detox diet. This is because in order to get rid of belly fat permanently, you have to retrain your brain so that you don’t go back to your old ways of eating and drinking. ~you have to create a new habit in your brain so that you won’t revert back to your old, bad, habits.

4 Beverages That Sabotage Your Diet

Monday, August 10th, 2009

People are always talking about foods that burn fat and how you need to eat certain foods to lose weight. Let’s look at the other culprit: Beverages. These drinks are responsible for as much weight gain if not more than alot of foods.

1. Alcohol
When you want to lose weight, you should not drink alcohol because it inhibits your body’s ability to burn fat.
When you drink alcohol, your liver has to detoxify it right off the bat.
This takes priority over carbohydrates, fats, and protein.
Fat is the hardest to process and break up so therefore your liver does this last.

People often eat while they drink alcohol so they tend to add a bunch of unecessary calories which… turn to fat. Fat with nine calories per gram is followed by alcohol with seven calories per gram when it comes to those with the highest calorie content.
When alcohol is in your system, your body will convert more of the foods you eat into fat.

2. Soda
Soda is one of the reasons people become excessively fat in this country.
Studies show that drinking soda increases the risks of diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, tooth decay, caffeine dependency, and nutritional deficiencies.
Studies also show that people who drink sodas do not cut back on the regular foods they eat.
This adds at least 200 calories a day, or 1,400 calories per week, to their intake!

The components of soda are:

Phosphoric Acid: Mixes with the hydrochloric acid of the stomach and interferes with digestion.
It is also responsible for leeching minerals out of the bones.

Refined Sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup: Sugar in liquid form is absorbed fast by the body putting the your health at risk.
When insulin levels spike, fat burning ability plummets. This results to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, premature aging, heart disease, and unwanted weight gain.
A good holistic weight loss and diet plan will help you to find healthy, natural alternatives to sugar and HFCS.

3. Tap Water: Tap Water: composed of chemicals including chlorine, trihalomethanes, lead, and cadmium, which are hazardous to your health and get stored in fat cells.

4. Diet Soda, Diet Beverages

Drinking a diet drink is similar to drinking pop plus artificial sweeteners that affect your brain making you want to eat more, and can cause cancer.
The main artificial sweetener used is aspartame.
According to research, it has over 92 related health effects to it including:

  • Brain tumors
  • Birth defects
  • Diabetes
  • Emotional disorders
  • Epilepsy/Seizures

If you ask me, anything that has this many life altering side effects is worth staying away from.
There have been entire books written about the dangers of aspartame.
If you go to Medline.com on the internet, you can find hundreds of research articles on this subject.
In the end, drinking diet pop will slowly cause your body to build up toxins and you still will not lose weight.

In order to lose fat naturally and live a long and healthy life, these 4 “dangerous” drinks must be avoided.

Water is The Best Way To Flush Fat

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Water is one of the most overlooked tools for weight loss that we haveWater suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat.

Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase. Why does this happen? Because if your kidneys aren’t functioning properly due to dehydration then their workload gets shifted to the liver. Your liver is responsible for metabolizing your stored fat.

If the liver has to help with the kidney’s workload, it’s unable to operate at it’s peak effeciency. This means that your liver will break down less fat destroying your body’s ability to lose fat naturally.

As for water weight gain, drinking enough water is the best treatment to get rid of excess fluid in your body. When the body gets less water, it perceives this as a threat to survival and begins to hold on to every drop.

Water is stored in extra cellular spaces (outside the cells). This shows up as swollen feet, legs and hands. Diuretics offer a temporary solution at best. Diuretics force out stored water along with some essential nutrients. Again, the body perceives  this as a threat and will replace the water at the first opportunity.

The best way to overcome the problem of water retention is to give your body what it needs-plenty of water. Only then will stored water be released. Any good weight loss program to get rid of belly fat and to slim/tone your body will talk about the effectiveness of drinking enough water.

The overweight person needs more water than the average person. Larger people have larger metabolic loads.

What’s the optimal amount of water to drink for weight loss? The average sized person should take in about 8 glasses a day. If you are obese then drink around 10-12 glasses. If you are extremely overweight, then drink mofe than the 12 glasses. Remember… these are general rules of thumb.

Water is the essential component to good fat metabolism in the body designed to flush fat out of the body.

Get Rid Of Belly Fat By Eating More Food

Friday, June 12th, 2009

The best way to get rid of belly fat is to eat frequent meals.Eating food more often is the key to success.A standard rule among the majority of diet plans is to “graze”. What this means is that we should be eating smaller portions 5-6 times a day.

There are three reasons why eating 5-6 times a day is so important:

1. We are eating how our ancestors ate, which means we are agreeing with out genetic makeup. Our ancestors did not eat 3 square meals, they ate all the time because they were hunter/gatherers.Their food was nutrient rich and calorie poor.

2. Your body turns into a fat burning machine because your metabolism is constantly running to break down the food.If you can increase your metabolic rate, you can permanently lose fat naturally)Our bodies weren’t designed to handle a bunch of food all at once. Instead, it was designed for for eating small portions all the time.

3. If you are constantly eating or “grazing”, you become less hungry and the left over calories aren’t stored as fat on your butt or tummy.

Part 2 of the grazer principle states to always make sure that you are full. If life happens and you become too busy, then you will be sure to make bad choices for your meals. The most satisfying and most often available are those heavily refined, fast or fried foods full of bad fats and lots of carbs.

Due to the fact that our lives are filled with very high stress situations, we tend to crave fats and sugars so that we can make more stress hormones out of them. When your body is in high stress, it means that your sympathetic nervous system aka “fight or flight” system is constantly keeping you in a heightened state.

Well, you need certain foods with lots of fat and sugar to fuel this process to produce adrenaline and other hormones that are required to keep you there.

The down side is that if your body is left in a constant state of chronic stress, it leads to burnout and then to serious diseases.

If you are looking for a permanent way to lose fat naturally, then start eating 5-6 smaller meals per day and watch your figure change.

Putting this rule into practice will ensure that you can build a foundation for you and your family for future success in weight loss.

Get Rid Of Junk Food Cravings

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Most people suffer from emotional eating. Their mind controls their eating habits and they eat too much. If this sounds familiar, then this principle will help break the worst of your habits. I call it the addition rule.

The logic of this rule is simple, but can be life-changing.To get rid of a bad habit, you need to add something positive in its place to fill in what was there before. Nature abhors a vacuum and will fill up the empty space.

Adding healthy food to your diet can help you to flush body fat naturally. Let’s take this example so that you can understand what I’m talking about. If you are trying to give up white bread (guaranteed fat producer), You must replace it with either a whole grain wrap or sprouted bread such as Ezekiel bread.

After you have done this for a period of time, start adding some more raw fruits and vegetables to your diet.

There are four powerful reasons why you want to add these:

  • Eating these raw, give you much needed digestive enzymes that are needed to break down your food. Processed foods do not give you this.
  • Vegetables and fruits contain high amounts of fiber which grows in your stomach, causing you to fill up and feel fuller faster.
  • It helps to push food through your digestive tract.
  • It provides the body with much needed vitamins and minerals

The second part of the rule is to “eat my fiber first.”

This will clear a path and prepare your digestive tract for the rest of your meal.

When eaten with other food, fresh fruits and vegetables literally clear a place for the rest of your food and detoxifies your large intestine. This in itself will help you lose fat naturally.

For instance, when you eat pasta, make sure that you eat your salad (minus all the heavy dressing) before you eat anything else. If you are eating ice cream, add an apple and eat it first.

Adding the fruits and veggies fills you up faster and you won’t eat as much. Plus, you will be getting a good dose of anti-oxidants!

Go ahead and start this immediately. It’s not unusual for people to lose 5-10 pounds off of just this little tip!

“Lose Fat With This Simple Change

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Ever heard people say “you are what you eat”?Well, that is only part of the story. You are when you eat also! In other words, if your meal strategy is upside down, so will your figure be. This principle is a key component in any holistic nutrition program.

I’m guessing that this sounds completely insane right now…so let’s try this another way.

Can you tell me what food is really?Food is nothing more than energy that makes your body function. If food = energy, when do we need the most energy… before we go to bed or when we get up to start the day?The best meal to eat the most calories is breakfast.

When should we eat our biggest meal based on energy requirements? Breakfast. Then lunch, then dinner.

What is the typical American diet? Captain Crunch for breakfast, pizza for lunch, and fried chicken, mashed potatoes, butter soaked corn, and a piece of apple pie for dessert.

You ideally want your daily meal plan to be an upside down triangle, filtering the least amount of calories to the end of the day, and giving the body the most at the beginning of the day so that it has all day to burn your calories off.

For Example:

Have oatmeal, eggs and some fresh fruit for breakfast.

A chicken ceasar wrap for lunch with a side of raw carrots

Kabobs for supper with a tossed salad.

Notice how the calorie count got smaller with each meal?Always try to eat the least amount right before bed.You do not exert much energy while you sleep, therefore there is no need to eat a bunch of calories. It is just stored as fat. A good natural weight loss and detox program makes sure that you keep a healthy weight by using foundational principles like the pyramid principle.

Part 2 of this rule states that you need to try to eat before 7pm. This is because naturally, we are designed to wind down before bed and not eat.

Side note: Be sure to eat breakfast like a king, your lunch like a queen and dinner like a poor man. This trick alone will boost your fat burning abilities by 300%.

How To Have Your Cake And Eat It Too

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Everyone loves a vacation. Everyone needs a vacation, especially in our high stress society. Now, I’m not talking about a vacation at the beach(It’s healthy to take a trip far away now and againI’m referring to a vacation from a calorie restriction diet.

It is not good for you to deprive yourself of things that you love.In fact,it is one of the worst things you can do to your psyche and one of the best ways to sabotage your weight loss.

Your stress levels rise when you want something really bad.A little hormone known as Cortisol causes stress levels to rise and your body to put on excess pounds of fat.Notice all the new, hot supplements on the market which try to block this from happening. What a joke.

What does this tell you? It means that skipping out on junk foods such as chocolate dunkin doughnuts can be bad for your metabolism.Whoa! I’m not saying to eat everything in the house that is bad for you. The beauty of a natural detox and weight loss program is that there is room for errors when you add this free day.

Current Research shows that a huge calorie surge keeps your metabolism from slowing down to a snails pace.

A good way to implement this into your lifestyle is to:Give yourself 1 free day a week where you can eat whatever you would like to eat and as much of it as you would like to stuff your face withAnother option is to give yourself 3 meals per week where you can eat anything.

Always plan your free day or vacation meal. This keeps accidents from happening and you wasting your free day on an “emergency” situation.

REMINDER:I am giving you permission to gorge yourself with every possible dessert and fried food that you can think of.Ice cream, doughnuts, frenchfries, and lots of cheesy items make the list.Believe it or not, a holistic nutrition program is not just about strict dieting. As you can see, it is possible to have your cake and eat it too.

Holidays are there to keep your psyche at rest so that it will work for you and not against you.

Another reason to take a free day is to gauge how you feel after eating unhealthy fats and white sugars. It will feel like your energy has been sucked out of you and you’ll want to take a nap about an hour after eating these unhealthy foods.

Why we get fat

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Our ancestors were the equivalent to olympic athletes in their health. They lived in a world of survival of the fittest. If they did not fight to survive, they would be somebody else’s food.Genetically, our bodies have not changed much since those times. We’ve had to evolve mechanisms that would keep us alive during times of famine.

Hunter/gatherers during this time endured long periods of starvation. It was rare that they had enough food.To combat this, our bodies have more systems that allow us to gain weight than they do for us tolos e weight.

Through hormonal changes in our body, our ancestors survived by gaining and storing weight to survive periodic famines. This sounds ridiculous because who would ever think that we have a shortage of food, especially in Industrialized nations.

On the contrary, our food supply is completely devoid of nutrients.

Now, our food has too many calories and not enough nutrients.

We have poisoned our systems that help us lose weight by not exercising, mental/emotional stress and eating foods that are not congruent with our genetics such as high fructose corn sugar, processed foods, too much salt, etc. This has turned our bodies into fat storing machines.

Our ancestors were in incredible shape. He/she who was the most fit, had the best chance of getting/killing more food.

As we evolved, we created systems and behaviors to survive when droughts and bad eyesight made hunting and gathering more successful. In early times, our diets consisted of fruits, nuts, vegetables, tubers, and wild meat. These foods were low in calories BUT high in nutrients. This is why it is important to have a holistic weight loss program. This type of program is designed to give you nutrient dense foods that have a very low calorie value.

During our hunter/gatherer times, our sweets were fruits and honey. They were all natural and not in a concentrated form like the sugar and “fake” honey that we have now.

The biggest difference from the Paleolithic period and now is that our stress comes from deadlines, bosses breathing down their throats, and financial worries. It isn’t life threatening any more. The problem lies in the fact that our bodies can’t tell mental stress from physical stress.

All forms of stress overcome our innate drive to shed fat.Emotionally, we become discouraged causing us to give into eating sugars, fats, and sodas. When you add these events together, many of our dietary choices are shifted from biological necessities to psychological reactions.

What Do I Look For In Fruits And Vegetables?

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

There is a huge variety of fruits and vegetables to choose from.Picking the best ones is always a challenge. The answer is simple.I’ve come up with 3 easy to follow steps to ensure that the best fruit or vegetable has been picked.Side note: people have a tendency to eat 2 or 3 different vegetables and fruits all the time. Make sure that you are always eating a variety and trying new things. This will ensure that you can obtain the widest variety of vitamins and minerals. Eating raw fruits and vegetables are a core foundation for holistic weight loss and living a healthy lifestyle. If you are wanting to find the best fruits and vegetables, look for these 3 factors:

1.Vine ripened50% of the vitamins and minerals go into the fruit or vegetable when it ripens on the vine or tree.Fruits and Vegetables are picked early when they are still green. They then get sprayed with chemicals so that they will ripen as they are shipped.
2. Organic:Studies have shown that an organic fruit or vegetable has 13x more nutrition than an inorganic one.In addition, organic produce isn’t sprayed with dangerous insecticides and herbicides. Studies actually show that these chemicals leach into the skin and flesh of conventional fruits and vegetables.
3. Local:Fruits & vegetables that are farmed locally is the most beneficial to your body and your health. This is because there are local bacteria, nutrients, and other micro-organisms that you need to have tolerance to.If you go to Mexico and wind up with “Montezuma’s revenge” then you understand what I’m talking about. Your body isn’t used to the local bacteria.

By understanding these three key points, you can get the most nutrition out of your produce which directly helps you in your anti-aging process and indirectly helps with your holistic weight loss efforts.
